According to a recent report from over in Italy, Roma are unlikely to take part in a permanent deal for Chris Smalling due to Manchester United’s asking price. The Englishman really did hit the ground running when he made his way over to Italy, instantly embedding himself as a regular within Roma’s starting XI. 

Ever since then the expectation has been that Roma would try and sign him on a permanent basis, despite many believing that his instinct was to go back to United and try to break back into the first team over there.

Inter s Champions League fate is in their own hands after Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku inspired a 3-1 win at Slavia Prague on Wednesday.

Martinez s crisp finish put Inter ahead before they saw a second goal chalked off and Slavia instead awarded a penalty, which Tomas Soucek converted to tee up a draw that would do little for either side.

But late strikes from the outstanding Lukaku and Martinez secured the precious points for Inter as they bid to reach the knockout stage.

The report has claimed that reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are keen on the former Tottenham Hotspur right-back and have had several bids for him rejected. Newcastle want £20 million for the 33-year-old.

Trippier has been on the books of Newcastle since 2022 when he joined from Atletico Madrid. He has done well for the Magpies, although in recent weeks, he has not been at his best. The 33-year-old has made 170 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career. He has scored five goals, given 32 assists, and kept 47 clean sheets in those games.

The Wales international squeezed Madrid s opening goal past Kashima Antlers goalkeeper Kwoun Sun-tae shortly before half-time and pounced on a defensive mix-up after the break to score again, with his third goal soon after putting the result beyond doubt in the second semi-final. 

Bale has now scored in three different editions of the competition, having also found the net in 2014 and 2017, a feat only previously achieved by two other players.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has dismissed the notion of Russia hosting Euro 2028 as  beyond satire , instead suggesting the tournament be awarded to Ukraine.

Russia launched a bid for either Euro 2028 or Euro 2032 on Wednesday, despite the country s ongoing invasion of their Eastern European neighbour.
