According to a recent report from over in Italy, Roma are unlikely to take part in a permanent deal for Chris Smalling due to Manchester United’s asking price. The Englishman really did hit the ground running when he made his way over to Italy, instantly embedding himself as a regular within Roma’s starting XI.
Ever since then the expectation has been that Roma would try and sign him on a permanent basis, despite many believing that his instinct was to go back to United and try to break back into the first team over there.
Now, United may well be pricing Roma out of the deal altogether. It makes sense for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to try and bring him back to the club as he’d still be one of his better options, but you have to wonder whether or not the Norwegian will even be the man in charge at Old Trafford by the time it comes around to that decision needing to be made.
